For many the FatSak needs little introduction.
Its voluptious form and heavenly fabrics have graced the pages of Cosmopolitan, Elle Decoration, House and Leisure and Mens Health Living magazines causing the FatSak to rapidly become a welcome addition to the decor lexicon.
From the moment I spotted a maple fat chord FatSak on a showroom floor I knew I wanted to own one – and that was before I’d even sat on it. I’ve been intrigued by the sublimely comfy yet uber stylish alternative to living room furniture ever since and couldn’t wait to showcase the trendy little devil on the blog – especially since it’s so kid friendly too!
I managed to track down FatSak owner Ryan Buda and asked him a few quick questions to satisfy my curiosity…
Sprogs n’ Dogs: Is FatSak a South African product?
Ryan Buda: Yes FatSak is a South African product, made here in Cape Town.
Sprogs n’ Dogs: How was it ‘born’?
Ryan Buda: I brought a similar product back when returning to SA a few years ago after some time overseas. We then improved the product for the SA market.
Sprogs n’ Dogs: Who are the brains behind it?
Ryan Buda: It was always my idea although ‘brains’ might be doing real brainy people an injustice. The real brain behind the idea was a chap in the USA who designed the first bean bag using polyurethane foam instead of polystyrene balls – I suppose that’s what started it all.
Sprogs n’ Dogs: Why is the FatSak such a perfect ‘fit’ for any family?
Ryan Buda: Everyone loves FatSak – no one has ever sat in a FatSak and not smiled! Regardless of age, from kids to dads and moms, it’s just an awesome product. Removable covers mean no worries about grubby fingers. Super high quality foam means it’ll never go flat. The only question is how much space do you have, and how big a bag can you get?
Sprogs n’ Dogs: What’s the low down on prices?
Ryan Buda: Small FatSaks start at R2700, Medium R3500 and Large R4500. We also offer a new product now called the FlipSak which is less expensive but a nice TV watching/gaming chair at R2000 each.
