Princess Party Theme

How insanely sweet is this princess birthday theme put together by Durban-based cupcake maker Zalita Motala from Cupcakes D’lights?

The pièce de résistance

If you’re in the KZN area and you’re on the lookout for an excellent cake-maker, best you give Zalida a holler.

Zalida had this to say about her princess project:

“A really sweet lady asked me to create her daughter’s first birthday cake. I convinced her to allow me to create a whole princess candy table. I started out at the party shop finding pretty items in pink. I filled glass jars with pink beads, baubles, and feathers, and stuck little pink fluffy balls on them. I also found gorgeous little pink diamante stones which added a little bling to the table.

I covered bite-size Bar One chocolates with pink foil and pretty paper and printed Zoe’s name onto sticker paper, adding a little pink stone for sparkle. I also filled pink and white cachous into packets, sealed them with gingham printed paper and added a little crown sticker – these created nice take-home favours. The lollipops were covered in pink foil and pink tissue paper. Here I also added pretty ribbons sparkly stones to each one.

The cake, cookies and cupcakes kept to the princess theme of castles and crowns. The Zoe bunting was my favourite. It added a cute personalized touch to the table. I also added sweet princess stickers to the letters to remind Zoe and her mom of her first birthday.”

I discovered this gorgeous spread via Sweet Designs – a blog by New York event planner Amy Atlas. If you’re serious about creating exquisite birthday themes hop on over to Amy’s site for inspiration. It’s pretty breathtaking.
