Toxin-free Baby Gear

I’ve had a number of people email me on the lookout for BPA-free baby products (re. past post BPA: Not a Toxin to Toy With).

It seems SA may be lagging in the non-toxic baby goods department because finding said products is not as simple as you’d think.

The good news, though, is that I have discovered an incredible online store that stocks some seriously cool non-toxic baby products from around the globe.

VUPBaby (Very Useful Products) was created by two UK-based mothers (just like you and me) out of a concern that BPA, PVC and Phthalates (chemicals used to make baby’s bottles, feeding product and toys) might have a long-term damaging effect on their babies. “The more we found about the effects of these toxic products, the more determined we were to launch a business whose main mission is to offer a selection of carefully vetted products and information to allow parents to make an informed decision when buying products for their children,” says VUPBaby co-founder Laila Patel.

While there is increasing pressure for BPA, PVC and Phthalates to be banned from the baby products market, toxin-free products (especially down South) aren’t widely available – yet, anyway. Which is why VUPBaby is such a brilliant find. Not only does it stock a variety of safe, fun and functional products (feeding, drinking, toys, nursery and gifts), the VUPBaby blog is packed with informative and practical information. Here you’ll find links and research on the impact of these chemicals, helping you make an informed decision about the choices you make for your children.

The best news? VUPBaby ships to South Africa!

Says Laila, “We accept SA credit cards. We charge £24.99 to ship to SA with insurance for a maximum of 2kg.  If above 2kg we will email you with the estimated extra shipping costs”.

So, don’t go another day worrying about all the plastic poisons leaching from bottles, sippy cups and toys. Hop on over to VUPBaby and see what a great toxin-free selection the gals have in store.
