There’s been a lot of talk about parties recently here on Sprogs n’ Dogs – don’t know why, as both my kids have birthdays in September (yonks away). Still, as I’ve got my birthday antennae on, I thought I’d share my latest discovery with you.
Place of Play – heard of it? It’s in the buzzing metropolis that is Canal Walk, Century City in Cape Town. The howling wind and torrential rain that sloshed about Slaapies last week literally drove us there – nothing worse than cabin fever kids (and dogs!) on Mother’s Day.
I’m not much of a mall mom myself, but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised.
The indoor play area is enormous with plenty of age-appropriate activities. Outside activities such as quadbiking, climbing, a pedal track and mini motorbikes also ensure hours of physical fun (though, sadly, the rain kept us well away from those). A restaurant called Popalicious caters for the whole family and has a wifi zone (so you can work and play) and there’s even a nail bar and shiatsu massage studio.
What really caught my attention was POP as a party venue (apparently it’s their speciality).
There are a number of options available and you should check out the POP website for relevant details on each one. Most options give party goers exclusive use of the POP party room, offer guests a POP party pack and a party host dedicated to look after the kids. You can choose from a range of activities such as Scratch Patch, POP-Art (canvass painting), Marie Biscuit Decorating and Sand Art to keep the kids entertained, and some or all of the equipment at POP is also available for the kids to use.
The venue can be themed – Spiderman, fairies, Hello Kitty, etc. – as can your child’s birthday cake (for R200 – R300). Adult catering is also available (and it sounds quite yum).
Okay, so there’s a lot of info here. The best thing to do if ya interested is hop on over to the POP website and check it all out. It sure sounds like they’ve got a sweet deal going – made even sweeter by the fact that you don’t have to tidy up (yes please!).
