Box of Tricks

With the soggy season (a.k.a pouring rain out and energetic kids in) almost upon us here in Slaapstad, I thought I’d share a newfound trick.

It comes in a box. It’s super easy to prepare and your kids will love it – trust me!

Woolies (God bless their sparkling aisles and over-priced butchery section) stock a really great-tasting, pre-made muffin mix. Stuck for something ‘fun’ to do yesterday, I unleashed the contents of The Magic Box on my kids.

Instead of the usual hassle of weighing and measuring ingredients separately, we could just rip a bag open, add a few extra bits, stir and stir (and stir some more – stirring’s big with toddlers), and voila! 12 golden brown muffins appeared for all to see, smell, eat and… massage into the table (also big with toddlers).

The kids really got stuck in (literally) and the little baking project was a huge success – there wasn’t even that much mess (what a win!).

Grab yourself a box next time you’re doing the groceries – Ina Paarman does one two, I’m sure – stash it in your cupboard and saveĀ  it for a raining day. Believe me, you’ll be so glad you did!
