Toy Swap – it’s Super Simple (and Fun)

It’s incredible how many toys we’ve gathered in a space of three years!

What’s more amazing is how little the kids actually play with them all. There’ve been a few favourites (sadly, they’re usually the noisy ones!) that have been dragged to school, play dates, the odd shopping outing and even into the bath. But on the whole most are tucked away in boxes, baskets and basically anything that’ll hide the clutter.

I suppose just as we tire of our clothes (Oh, what to wear?!), kids get bored of playing with the same toys. There seems to be a solution, though. I recently caught wind of a novel idea by a company called Rent-A-Toy and I thought I’d share it with ya.

In a nutshell Rent-A-Toy does exactly as its name suggests: rents out toys.

‘Ah,’ I hear you say, ‘we have enough of those.’ But before you click off this page think about how often your kids actually play with them? Variety is the spice of life, right? Why not zing up playtime a little with a handful of different toys like the ones on offer at Rent-A-Toy?

It’s so super simple

All you have to do is sign up for a R100 or R150 monthly membership fee and a box of educational, age and gender-specific toys will be delivered to your door each month. Delivery to anywhere in the greater Cape Town area is free. Nice! (Apparently the company is in the process of franchising the business to the rest of South Africa, too.)

More good news is that you can keep a toy that becomes a favourite-favourite for an additional month or two. If a life-long love affair develops you have the option to buy the beloved toy at a discounted rate. How cool?

You can expect well-known toy brands such as Tinylove, Jump Start, Leapfrog, Mattel, Disney, Barney and Fisher Price in your box.

Sound good to you? Email Charissa Michael on gauteng@rent-a-toy.co.za, give her a call on 083 525 9651 or check out the Rent-A-Toy website.

Now, about my boring threads… Anyone heard of a company that rents out designer clothes?
